How to create User Defined Material (UDM) in BC Framer or MiTek Structure

Here are the steps to create user defined material in BC Framer® software.

  1. Click File > Setup > Sapphire Materials

  2. Create a new User Defined material by clicking on User Defined Material under Material Management  on the left. Then select the appropriate shape under Material Category and click the New button at the bottom of the Material List window.

  3. The User Defined Material Setup window will open. Fill out the Name, the Material Properties, and then under Application Categories, choose where the UDM is applicable (e.g. wall members).  Click OK to save the new Materiel.  (The Material properties for depths and width is in FIS Format so 000108 would equal 1-1/2"). 
    Note: Some of the default materials are missing the "Size" and "Weight" values. These must be filled in before you will be able to save the UDM list. "Size" is a required text field and can be anything you choose. "Weight" is a numeric field for weight per linear foot.

  4. Save the material and then add it to one of your consider lists in Material List.
