Unable to add new members to BC Calc® in the web browser.

If clicking on a new joist or beam fails to create a new member in the web browser, making the following adjustments will fix the issue. Choose your browser from the list below.

Google Chrome    Chrome.jpg

Start a new Google Chrome browser tab, type in chrome://flags/ and press enter. 

  • In the search box, type in "cookies".
  • Change the first three items to "Disabled", and then Relaunch the browser.  Make sure you don't have another browser window open when you relaunch, or the change won't take.​

Microsoft Edge    Edge.jpg

Start a new Microsoft Edge browser tab, type in edge://flags/ and press enter.

  • In the search box, type in "cookies".
  • Change the first two items to "Disabled", and then Restart the browser.  Make sure you don't have another browser window open when you restart, or the change won't take.​

Start a new Brave browser tab, type in brave://flags/ and press enter.
(Note: Brave is not tested for compatibility with BC Calc®)

  • In the search box, type in "cookies".
  • Change the first three items to "Disabled", and then Relaunch the browser.  Make sure you don't have another browser window open when you relaunch, or the change won't take.​

You should be able to create new members now.

These browsers based upon the "Chromium" browser implemented a change without notification in the last few weeks to move towards more secure handling of browser cookies. So you are no less secure after our toggle than you were for the years prior to the recent change.

We are looking for alternatives to using 'cookies' altogether, so the change we made is just a work-around.
