This video provides an overview of Apps and Menus of BC Connect®
0:00: Welcome to this BC Connect overview.
0:03: This video provides an overview of apps and menus within BC Connect.
0:08: Once you have completed this overview, we will provide a detailed review of the many functions and settings for each application.
0:15: BC Connect is designed to work with dealer and distributor locations with or without a component saw.
0:21: For this reason, we will cover all menu items.
0:24: As we cover the various apps and functions.
0:26: Keep in mind that you can select the app that works for you.
0:30: Let's get started.
0:31: When you first log in to BC Connect, the default landing page for all users is the Project Dashboard.
0:37: This is a default setting that can be customized, but we'll talk about this later in the video.
0:42: At the top center of the application is the location information.
0:46: The location identifies the BC Connect site you are currently working in.
0:51: This is important for users who have access to multiple sites to ensure they are working within the correct location.
0:57: On the top left we have our App selector.
1:00: Use your mouse to click or hover over the icon.
1:04: You can now see the various apps or functions available to you.
1:08: These are available based on your role as selected by your site administrator.
1:13: The first app is Projects and it's where we started.
1:17: The Project Dashboard is the big picture for active projects showing project design and operations information.
1:25: It captures the life cycle of the project from creation to completion.
1:30: Easily review important project information and fill in what is missing or see what your next step should be.
1:37: The second app is Products.
1:40: Within the Products app you can use the Quick joist and beam selector for simple uniform design loads.
1:52: Use the equivalent joist tool to find a Boise Cascade I-joist replacement on plans specified with a competitive product.
2:01: Read the general notes before using these tools to understand their limitations.
2:07: Our next step is Design.
2:09: The Design Dashboard allows you to view, filter, or sort Design Service Tickets as a project moves along the production path from design to optimization.
2:20: This dashboard also includes our BC Calc module, providing you the ability to run analysis directly from within BC Connect.
2:28: The material list menu shows options to create, import, or open an existing material list.
2:35: Inventory app.
2:36: The Inventory app is where you would set stocked material, lengths, quantities, and SKU numbers if needed.
2:44: Operations app.
2:46: The Operations Dashboard is all about taking your material list and turning it into an optimized cut list for a manual or automated saw.
2:55: The optimizer can determine the most efficient cut solution based on your inventory settings.
3:01: The menu here provides access to the batch list and other default batch settings.
3:07: While the visibility for all apps is based on your assigned roles, the following two apps are less likely to be visible Reports and Admin.
3:17: Reports app.
3:18: The Reports app provides daily report data for project activity that can be run for specific date ranges.
3:32: Admin app.
3:33: The Admin app is typically reserved for the location administrator to set specific default values for the site as well as manage user access and rights.
3:43: Let's move to the far right of our screen.
3:46: The question mark is a drop down menu that provides some helpful resources for you.
3:50: Software support This is our software support team contact information.
3:56: Please contact us at your convenience for help on specific issues, questions, or to set up training.
4:02: Our license agreement and trademark info is provided for your reference.
4:07: Next is Notifications.
4:09: You will notice the red circle with a number.
4:11: If you click on this red circle, you can see a list of the latest changes that were done within the site since your last login.
4:18: It will list the item that changed, what the action was, and when it changed.
4:23: These preferences can be set individually, and we will cover that in just a moment.
4:28: Please notice that the number within the circle will now be reset to 0, and it will begin counting the changes until you come back and review the notifications again.
4:37: The last menu item is your username.
4:40: Hover your mouse over your username and click on Edit Profile.
4:44: This allows you to edit your user information, username, company, address, email, and phone number.
4:51: Project and Ticket notification.
4:54: This allows you to set notifications specific to projects, design service tickets, or DST, and operation service tickets, or OST that you are assigned to or for all projects at your location.
5:08: Sign in landing page.
5:10: Set defaults for your start page and location if you have access to multiple sites.
5:16: Length parser settings. Set your default input format to feet, inches, and fractions or feet, inches and 16ths.
5:24: We also provide a tool to create a desktop shortcut.
5:29: To save your changes, click save.
5:31: Locations menu.
5:33: If you have access to multiple locations, this drop down menu provides you the ability to switch from one site to another.
5:40: The last item is the sign out link.
5:43: We recommend signing out at the end of each work day in case of overnight upgrades and to avoid expired web pages.
5:51: This concludes our BC Connect overview.
5:53: Thank you for watching.
