Adding a New User in BC Connect

Adding a new user is a task that can only be performed by a BC Connect® software user who's been given the Site Administrator role. Depending upon the situation, a Site Administrator may need to add a new employee to their location, or to add a user from another company or location in order to share project assets.

We've added some helpful tips and login assistance toward the end of this article. Before adding a user, we would recommend reading over those notes and perhaps sending an email to your new user to help clear any confusion. To skip to those notes, click the links below.

Inviting a new user to a BC Connect Location:

1. Log into BC Connect.

2. If you have access to multiple locations, choose the appropriate location from your User Name drop-down menu in the upper right.

4 (1) Click the App Chooser in the upper left and select Admin.

4 (2) Then click the Admin App.

NOTE: If you don't have admin permissions on the location, the Admin app won't be listed. Request assistance from your Site Administrator. Contact ewpsupport@bc.com if you're not sure who the Site Administrator is.

7. Add up to 4 new user email addresses (or "Add Another Row" at the bottom), then select from the Roles drop-down menu to define job roles the user(s) will need to perform.

NOTE: Do not use the "Check all" option. Choosing roles should be done carefully and intentionally. "Remote designer" is no longer used and should not be selected.

8. When you're ready to send your invites, click Save.

What the new user should expect...

The user will receive an email from donotreply@bcconnect.com, with the subject You've been invited to [LOCATION NAME} on BC CONNECT, notifying them that they've been invited to the BC Connect location. There will be a link for the user to click, which will lead them to a registration page.

IMPORTANT: If the user already has a BC Connect account for access to another location, but ends up at the registration page, they should not register again. If the invitee is an existing BC Connect user, instruct the user to click on the Sign In link at the initial landing page:

There will be another opportunity to Sign in at the top of the Registration page as well, for the user to sign in with their normal BC Connect (firstname.lastname@bcconnect.com) login.  Trouble signing in?

Some instructions you might like to provide to the new user:

New User to BC Connect

I'll be adding you to our BC Connect Location today. If you haven't already, you will be receiving an email from BC Connect (donotreply@bcconnect.com) that will have a link to accept my invitation. Please register for the account and watch for the following email, which will include your User Name and a temporary password.

Log in for the first time using the temporary password and change the password as directed. (This screen is a Microsoft branded dialog and is the only time you will use this reset password service. All subsequent password resets must be done from Reset Password on the bcconnect.com home page not from the Microsoft sign in.)

The password must be 8 to 16 characters, include one upper case letter, one lower case letter and either a number or a symbol. The password cannot include your user ID.
