Why did Boise Cascade retire the desktop version of BC Calc 4.6?

The desktop version of BC Calc® software 4.6 has been around for over 25 years and was written in a combination of obsolete programming languages.  It was increasingly incompatible with new versions of Windows and screen resolutions, lacked support for non-Windows operating systems, was incompatible with mobile devices, and was limited in feature expansion potential.  Closing all of these gaps would have required a significant investment.  As part of our strategy to bring our dealer and distributor customers a consolidated set of tools under the BC Connect® software web-based platform, we chose to invest in a web-based version of BC Calc that integrates with the new BC Connect platform, works with any operating system and is compatible with mobile devices.
