Slope refers to the pitch of a roof member and is only entered for rafter, roof beam and simple hip member types in BC Calc® software. In the United States, slope is entered in inches of rise per 12 inches of run. The pitch must be between 0/12 and 12/12 to design the member in BC Calc. A minimum slope of 0.25 in./ft. is recommended for rafters. A slope of 0 may be entered for ridge beam applications. The slope of the rafters that frame into the hip is entered in Simple Hip.
