Can I connect one beam to another as a side load in BC Calc?

To analyze load transfer from one member to another, BC Calc® software allows for a "Linked" Support Type. Linking two members, for example, joist supported by a beam, transfers the reaction and maintains a dynamic link. A change of load on the "supported" member will affect the load transferred or linked to the "supporting" member. The applied load can be a Uniform Linear Load or a Point Load, the reference end (left or right) can be set and the reaction can be configured as a side load if required.

For this exercise add two beams to an analysis, with the goal of side-loading one beam to the other:
1. Double-click on one of the members to edit.

6. Configure the Products tab to specification or find an adequate solution.

NOTE: The connection may require review depending on the load applied.

7. To configure a product for the other member and review the load being applied, switch to the other beam from the Member drop-down menu.
